China Foundation for Human Rights Development Launches Chongyang Festival Supporting Activities

2026-01-23

From Oct. 25 to 28, ahead of the Chongyang Festival, the China Foundation for Human Rights Development (CFHRD) carried out supporting activities under its “Rural Revitalization-Silver Age Care Plan” in Fengning Manchu Autonomous County, north China's Hebei province, advancing the project from pilot exploration toward normalized implementation.

During the activities, the foundation distributed assistance funds to elderly residents. Under coordinated efforts, multiple institutions participated, forming a cross-sector volunteer service framework. Relevant organizations provided psychological comfort and palliative care guidance, individualized household-based care services, nursing training for grassroots medical workers and family caregivers, local volunteer training, nutritional donations for elderly people, and project documentation support.

At the same time, the project coordinated with the Second People’s Hospital of Horqin Right Wing Middle Banner of Hinggan League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, to carry out support activities. Medical staff conducted needs assessments and delivered professional caregiving services in Bayanhushu Town. With an integrated medical and elderly-care service system, the hospital will contribute practical experience for the project’s future promotion in ethnic minority areas.

The recommendations of the 15th Five-Year Plan emphasize improving elderly-care systems and promoting targeted assistance. Supported by a fund established by the CFHRD, the “Rural Revitalization-Silver Age Care Plan” focuses on rural elderly people who are disabled or partially disabled and living at home. Through targeted assistance, localized volunteer development, professional caregiving support, and sustainable mechanism building, the project aims to improve the quality of life of elderly beneficiaries and strengthen the protection of their rights.
