On the morning of September 10, at a traditional Chinese medicine-themed event held during the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), China Foundation for Human Rights Development (CFHRD) and Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine signed a framework cooperation agreement and officially launched the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Inheritance, Innovation and Development Project. The initiative focuses on implementing the Healthy China strategy and advancing the National Human Rights Action Plan of China (2026–2030).

Sun Linhu, vice secretary-general of CFHRD, and Luo Zenggang, a member of the Party Committee and deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, as well as director of the Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

The project will focus on such areas as TCM health services, scientific and technological innovation in TCM, TCM talent development, the promotion of TCM culture, the development of the TCM industry, and international exchanges and cooperation in TCM. Human rights-related public welfare projects will be planned and implemented with the aim of building TCM activities into distinctive Chinese brands and platforms for promoting TCM.

CFHRD and the Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine will leverage their respective strengths and social resources, and mobilize broad participation from society to support the inheritance, innovation and development of TCM. They will work to translate the benefits of TCM into tangible and accessible health benefits for the public, promote people's health and well-being, and further enhance the influence of TCM at home and abroad.
