On September 13, a delegation participating in the “Perceiving Happy China: Hebei Tour,” organized by the State Council Information Office, visited the Affiliated Primary School of Shacheng Middle School in Huailai County, where they witnessed the public welfare activities bringing outstanding films and reading resources to schools, planned and implemented by the China Foundation for Human Rights Development (CFHRD).
CFHRD, together with China Film Group Corporation, China Digital Library and other organizations, donated themed digital library systems and digital library systems for preschool education to 14 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in Huailai County. The organizations also donated film screening equipment to seven schools and provided 70 public screenings of outstanding films.
Li Hongkui, vice-president and secretary-general of CFHRD; Jia Huixia, director of CFHRD’s Project Department; Zhu Zhongqi, second-level inspector of the Publicity Department of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China; Peng Jiyong, assistant to the president of China Digital Library; Zhou Jie, deputy general manager of China Film Innovation and Development (Beijing) Co., Ltd.; Wang Xia, member of the Standing Committee of the Huailai County Committee of the Communist Party of China and director of the County Publicity Department; and Wang Han, member of the Standing Committee of the Huailai County Committee and deputy county mayor, attended the donation ceremony.
In his speech, Li Hongkui said that a happy life for the people is the greatest human right, while public welfare and charitable initiatives are endeavors that benefit the public and improve people’s lives. He said that the public welfare program was designed to deliver high-quality cultural resources directly to schools, helping students develop their minds through reading and nurture their hearts through the power of film, thereby supporting their healthy growth.
Li added that CFHRD would continue to develop the initiative into a replicable and scalable public welfare program, extending its benefits to more students across the country, better meeting the diverse and higher-quality cultural and spiritual needs of children and young people, and laying a solid foundation for building China into a country with a strong culture.
Wang Han said in his speech that the public welfare donation had enriched Huailai’s digital cultural resources for schools and established platforms that integrate reading and film into education. Huailai has consistently prioritized the development of education. Digital reading and outstanding films complement each other by enriching extracurricular educational resources and helping young people cultivate good character and broaden their horizons. Wang expressed appreciation to CFHRD and all other parties for their support. He said that Huailai would take this initiative as an opportunity to further develop digital campuses and promote high-quality development of education across the county.
During the event, the Affiliated Primary School of Shacheng Middle School in Huailai County was designated as a “Pilot School for the ‘Outstanding Films into Schools’ Program”. Representatives of the school’s teachers and students watched the film Pegasus 3 together.
